Agriculture remains a vital industry in the Gambia, yet many farmers in LRR and NBR face challenges adapting to market changes, lack business skills, and struggle with sustainable growth. The Gambia Investment and Export Promotion Agency (GIEPA) in collaboration with the Inclusive Growth Promotion Institutional Support Project (IGPISP) concluded six days (6) training for Women gardeners. The training was facilitated by cooperative development and GIEPA staff from the 20th to 25th February of 2024 in Farafenni, NBR

The training is explicitly designed for farmers and aims to address these gaps, cooperative development, fostering innovation, business acumen, and sustainability in agricultural practices. The participants from the training were able to learn the requisite knowledge to form a horticulture farmers cooperative, develop their entrepreneurial mindset, and introduce them to marketing tools, leadership and governance, basic record keeping and others. As a result, the agricultural sector plays a crucial role in the Gambian economy, providing food, raw materials, and employment opportunities.
